Omani builds suspension bridge costing over OMR 2,000

Muscat: With a cost of more than OMR 2,000, a citizen from the Wilayat of Dhank has succeeded in constructing a suspension bridge with a length of 40 metres.

Muhanna Al Zaidi from the Wilayat of Dhank succeeded in constructing a suspension bridge 40 metres long and 13 metres high. The lengths of wires used were one kilometre to ensure the solidarity of the bridge, which was built with high engineering standards, totalling to a cost of more than OMR 2,000.

Al Zaidi stated that the main challenges faced by him were the search for suitable materials, which was time consuming. Stainless steel was used in the clamps which made the bridge's bearing reach 35 tonnes. He stressed that his ambition was only to gain the experience necessary to construct new bridges.
