Muscat: The procedures for more than 5,000 civil and military government jobs have been completed, the Minister of Labour said on Thursday.
His Excellency Dr Mahad bin Said bin Ali Ba'owain, Minister of Labour, said in an interview with Oman TV: "The procedures for 5,200 civil and military government jobs have been completed until May this year. The names can be released soon.”
HE added that the government sector should hire based on need and that the National Employment Programme has been set up to help place job seekers amid the current economic downturn. "The programme focuses on 12 sectors," he said.
The minister pointed out that 4,800 people were recruited to the private sector during the same period.
"The Cabinet has approved direct hiring, and there is no longer a need for recruitment companies," he added.
