Ministry of Foreign clarifies stance on electronic blackmail by Omani diplomats

Muscat: There are no Omani employees currently working in the Oman embassy in the Republic of Yemen, the Ministry of Foreign said after a number of citizens were subjected to electronic blackmail.

A statement issued online by the Ministry of Foreign said: "The Ministry would like to draw the citizens' attention that it has recently noticed a recurring complaint that a number of citizens were subjected to electronic blackmail by people claiming to be Omani diplomats working at Oman's embassy in the Republic of Yemen."

"The Ministry draws the attention of the honourable citizens that Oman at present, has no employees working in its embassy in the Republic of Yemen due to the current circumstances, and asks everyone to be careful not to fall into such electronic blackmail," the Ministry added.
