Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has confirmed that it is proceeding with the necessary procedures for the development of Khasab Port in the Governorate of Musandam.
"The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology confirms that it is proceeding with the completion of the necessary procedures for the development of Khasab Port, by submitting an earlier bid to manage, operate and develop the port," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
The ministry said that it has coordinated with the competent authorities to launch an advisory tender to choose the route of the Dibba-Lima-Khasab road and prepare the tender documents for implementation. It will also allow individuals to operate their own vehicles to provide transportation service through smart applications.
ONA added that the Civil Aviation Authority is coordinating with the relevant authorities to transform Khasab Airport for civil and military use after the completion of its study project to develop and enrich the tourism and economic aspect in the governorate.
"The authority approved the regulatory requirements for water airports and invited investors wishing to establish an amphibious airline in several locations in the Sultanate, including Khasab and Dibba in the Musandam Governorate," ONA said.
