Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Environment Authority (EA), took part in the 23rd meeting of GCC environment ministers on Tuesday.
Dr Abdullah Ali Al Amri, EA Chairman represented the Sultanate in the meeting.
The meeting, held via video conferencing, discussed the recommendations of the meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) environment undersecretaries.
The ministers' meeting also addressed several environment issues of concern to the GCC states in light of the global challenges facing the environment and climate.
The ministers also discussed decisions of the GCC Supreme Council’s 40th meeting relating to environment affairs in the GCC states, non-customs restraints, the GCC countries' efforts in curbing COVID-19, and the strategic plans for the environment affairs ministers' committee.
The ministers also discussed the G20 initiatives presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the environmental events in the GCC countries' pavilion in EXPO 2020 Dubai.
