Oman defeated by Qatar in World Cup qualifying

Doha: Oman slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Qatar in their match that serves as part of joint qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup.

Captain Hassan Al Haydos scored the opener for Qatar with a 40th minute penalty, sending Oman goalie Faiz Al Rushaidi the wrong way.

Qatar were by far the better team in the first half, with eight shots in comparison to a solitary attempt by Oman.

The hosts' dominance continued in the second half but the scoreline remained unchanged.

Oman continue to remain second in Group E, with the 2022 World Cup hosts ahead of them.
