NU hands over Royal grant for students of social security and low-income families

Muscat: Ministry of Social Development in coordination with the National University of Science and Technology (NU) handed over the Royal grant of laptops to all eligible students of social security and low-income families studying at the NU.

A total of 52 personal laptops has been given to students on the University campus in Airport Heights.

The Royal grant aims to enhance student's abilities and skills in dealing with modern technologies contribute to increasing the number of users of computers and the Internet among members of the Omani society and encouraging them to seek knowledge, digitally communicate, access information and electronic services, and keep abreast of everything new, as many university and college students benefit from this grant, especially in the current circumstances where the world is witnessing the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr Ali Al Bimani, Vice Chanllancer of the National University, valued this generous Royal gesture from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik – may God preserve and protect him – to provide laptops for all new students belonging to Social Security and Low-Income families who joined higher education institutions in the forthcoming academic year (2020/2021).

He affirmed that this honourable grant comes in support of this category to continue their education in all educational institutions at the university level without incurring additional financial burdens in light of these current conditions that the whole world is going through, which necessitated that students receive distance education in some educational levels.
