Omanisation: Electrical wiring licences not to be issued or renewed for expats

Muscat: Electrical wiring licence will not be issued or renewed for expatriates in Oman.

"The Authority for Public Services Regulations has declared that the issue of new permits or renewal of the existing permits for the electrical wiring licence for expatriates are to be stopped," said an online statement by Oman News Agency.  

The licences are to be issued exclusively to Omanis, to implement the authority’s strategy to raise the Omanisation rate in the electricity sector, the statement added.

Eight hundred jobs for subcontractors working with licensed companies are to be Omanised by the initiative.
