Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has clarified its stance on children who own lands in Oman.
"The ministry followed up what was circulated on social media platforms about the ownership of land by a number of children in the Sultanate of Oman. The Ministry confirms that the controls for granting land for its various uses are clear and defined in accordance with the law," said the ministry.
It also confirmed that, as the mentioned data indicates, the lands are inherited, purchased or gifted lands by the children's families.
"The ministry calls on everyone to take information from the right sources and to avoid misinterpreting the data before verifying its authenticity," the statement further added.
The Oman News Agency (ONA), said on Saturday, June, 5, 2021, that 11,062 children under the age of 18 own at least one piece of land in Oman.
