Oman’s Health Ministry announces campaign for second dose of Covid-19 vaccine

Muscat: The Ministry of Health will start from tomorrow a vaccination campaign for those who are due for the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine after having received the first dose before 10 weeks or longer.

Oman News Agency (ONA) said: "The Ministry of Health seeks to cover the entire target population aged 12 years and older, which is equivalent to 70 per cent of the population, and it will be implemented in phases according to vaccine supplies in accordance with the national strategy for immunisation against Covid-19 disease developed by the Ministry."

"The Ministry has developed an executive plan for immunisation for the month of June, which includes the vaccination of a number of groups, namely general diploma students and the body supervising the general diploma exams. It began on the 26th of May and ended on the 3rd of this month, health workers in the private sector who had not previously received the vaccine, in addition to providers of basic services and employees of military and civil agencies."

As for the other groups of society, the categories will be expanded to include adults aged 45 years and over during the third week of the current month of June, as well as students and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, and other target groups will be added in the month of June. The immunisation plan will be implemented in several ways with the aim of reaching For beneficiaries and facilitate procedures for them, including opening immunisation centres in all governorates, in addition to forming mobile teams if necessary.
