Pakistan Day celebrations held across the Sultanate

Muscat: Thousands of Pakistanis living across Oman celebrated Pakistan Day on Saturday with a host of events and activities, starting with a flag-hoisting and cake-cutting ceremony on the Embassy of Pakistan premises.
The day marks two occasions, including the Lahore declaration of March 23, 1940 that sought a separate independent Pakistani state, as well as Republic day of March 23, 1956 when Pakistan adopted its constitution, becoming the world’s first Islamic republic.
After that the flag-hoisting, messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out to the community gathered at the embassy.
Following the brief ceremony in the embassy compound, people moved to the Consular Hall for a traditional cake-cutting ceremony. The guests were then treated to traditional Pakistani snacks and refreshments. In addition to that, Pakistan schools across Oman, celebrated the day with full fervour. Various tableaux, national songs, speeches, football matchs, quizzes and sketch competitions were organised for the students.
There are altogether seven branches of Pakistan School across Oman including those in Muscat, Salalah, Buraimi, Nizwa, Mussannah, Seeb and Sohar.
Present at Pakistan School Muscat, Abdul Ahad Nazir, Chairman, Pakistan School Board said they aim to keep working hard to uplift the image of their country around the world.
“The day brings an opportunity to aspire us all with the dream of never-ending prosperity and stability for our beloved country Pakistan which was aimed by our dynamic leader Mohammed Ali Jinnah. Being expats I hope we all keep working tirelessly towards uplifting the image of our country all over the world,” Nazir said.
