MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,915.46 points, up 0.56 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.19 per cent at 563.53 points.

Sharqiyah Desalination, up 9.60 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Suwadi Power, down 3.45 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Investment were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 992 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR3.4 million, with more than 30 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded stocks, 21 advanced, 4 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR120,000 while Local investors were net sellers for OMR76,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR44,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,112.33 points, up 0.75 per cent. Al Sharqia Investment, Taageer Finance, Muscat Finance, Bank Dhofar and United Finance were up 4.35 per cent, 4.29 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 2.59 per cent and 2.27 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,590.31 points, up 0.17 per cent.  Oman Cables Industry, Dhofar Cattle Feed and Al Maha Ceramic were up 2.22 per cent, 2.20 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Ceramic and National Aluminum Product were down 2.08 per cent and 1.44 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.30 per cent closing at 1,641.13 points. Sharqiyah Desalination, National Gas, SMN Power Holding, Sembcorp Salalah and Ooredoo were up 9.60 per cent, 3.42 per cent, 1.54 per cent, 1.27 per cent and 1.00 per cent respectively. Al Suwadi Power and Al Batinah Power were down, 3.45 per cent and 1.82 per cent respectively.
