Muscat: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board of Directors has decided to extend the period of exemption for business owners from payment of membership fee arrears.

The council also called on the concerned authorities to postpone the implementation of the decision to raise fees for bringing in expat workers.

A statement said: “The Council approved the Chamber’s initiative regarding exempting affiliates from arrears of renewal fees for the Chamber’s membership for a period of one year, in line with the decisions of the Council of Ministers regarding the processing of commercial records."

The Chamber’s Board of Directors confirmed that these decisions will be applicable from July 1st for a full year according to the procedures and regulations followed in the Chamber, noting that these exemptions are estimated at an amount of more than OMR 6.5 million until the end of the current year, in addition to the exemptions during the year 2020 which amounted to OMR 7 million.
