Oman government extends continued support to SME sector
Muscat: Oman's government under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan has continued to support the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector during the pandemic.
A statement issued online by the Oman News Agency (ONA), said, "The government of the Sultanate under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik continues to support the small and medium enterprises sector during the Corona pandemic. As it receives special attention and care for its development and advancement through a number of measures and initiatives approved by the government to support this sector with the aim of mitigating the effects of the pandemic."
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority indicated that the measures taken by the government have contributed to mitigating the effects of the pandemic, especially in the small and medium enterprises sector, where a large number of economic incentives and government programmes were implemented aimed at meeting the needs of these enterprises and maintaining their sustainability and continuity. The authority revealed that the total number of entrepreneurs benefiting from the exemptions amounted to 3267 beneficiaries in several different sectors, and it is on the rise.
The authority stressed the importance of these measures in enabling a supportive work environment for small and medium enterprises focused on enhancing the sustainability of these institutions and entrepreneurship in the Sultanate and re-planning for the next normal situation.
