Muscat: The Ministry of Development issued a statement regarding a citizen requesting payment of his social security pension.
A statement issued online by the Ministry of Social Development said :"The ministry followed up on a video circulating where one of the citizens was demanding the disbursement of the social security pension. The ministry would like to clarify that the citizen who appears in that video was previously receiving a social security pension due to the applicability of the entitlement conditions to him. "
"After periodic follow-up of that citizen's case, it was revealed that he is not entitled to the retirement pension according to the provisions of the Social Security Law, due to the presence of three sons who are able to spend in addition to the presence of properties registered in the name of the concerned person represented in a group of residential and commercial lands."
The ministry also said: "In recognition of his old age, the ministry disbursed a monthly financial aid for him for a year, renewable, in accordance with the provisions of the Social Aid ."
