MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,844.19 points, down 0.12 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.23 per cent at 554.09 points.

Oman Investment & Financials Bond, up 3.66 per cent, was the top gainer while Muscat Finance, down 4.26 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Nizwa were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 548 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2 million, with more than 18 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 19 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR316,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR248,000 followed by local’s investors for OMR69,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index remained unchanged at 5,956.67 points, by 0.00 per cent. Bank Nizwa, Ahli Bank and Al Omaniya Financial Services were up 3.19 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.92 per cent respectively. Muscat Finance, United Finance, Oman & Emirates Holding, Madina Takaful and Ominvest were down 4.26 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 2.11 per cent and 1.94 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,484.25 points, down 0.23 per cent. Oman Fisheries and Oman Flour Mills were up 2.47 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively. Oman Cement, National Aluminum Product, Galfar Engineering and Raysut Cement were down 2.44 per cent, 2.34 per cent, 1.92 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.45 per cent closing at 1,612.10 points. Sharqiyah Desalination, Oman National Engineering, Phoenix Power, Renaissance Service and Oman Investment & Financials were down 4.17 per cent, 2.20 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.
