COVID-19: India reports 200 cases of black fungus

Muscat: Around 200 people were reported with black fungus infection in India.

The Oman News Agency said: "The Indian authorities announced the registration of about 200 people infected with the black fungus disease in the capital, New Delhi."

The rare and serious fungal infection, known as ‘Mucormycosis’, known colloquially as black fungus, is being detected quite frequently among COVID-19 patients in some states in India. The disease often manifests in the skin and also affects the lungs and the brain. With a number of Mucormycosis cases detected in Delhi, Maharashtra and Gujarat, experts in the national COVID-19 task force on Sunday issued an evidence-based advisory on the disease.
