Muscat: The Muscat Municipality signed today a memorandum of cooperation with Occidental Oman to create a linear park in Al Mabila South in Seeb.
A statement issued online by the Muscat Municipality said that the Municipality signed today a memorandum of cooperation with Occidental Oman to create a 152400 sqm linear park in Al Mabila South in Seeb, in a vibrant area full of urban and residential facilities close to the nearby commercial areas.
The chairman of Muscat Municipality His Excellency Isam Saud Hareb Al Zadjali signed the memorandum on behalf of Muscat Municipality and Stephen Kelly (President & General Manager of Occidental Oman) on behalf of Occidental Oman company, at the Muscat Municipality headquarter in Darsait.
The park was designed in accordance with quality and sustainability standards, with greater community participation, including people with disabilities. It will have a 3.2 kilometre walkway, bicycle path, children's outdoor games, outdoor fitness equipment, and public seating. Of course, there will be green landscaping and lighting all over the park. There will be places for mobile vending units, cafés, parking lots, and restrooms.
The project aims to provide sustainable services to the local community and boost healthy lifestyles and exercise, hence contributing to the happiness of the population. Such initiatives strive to positively contribute to the public and take an interest in wider social issues as a result of good experiences implemented by Muscat Municipality in several locations, and all coincides with the Municipality endeavours to spread the green landscapes all Muscat.
In this regard, Muscat Municipality expresses its gratitude to Occidental Oman for this community initiative and hopes that other private institutions will cooperate further to support and initiate such projects, boost employee morale and support the municipal role.
