Oman participates in Arab Organisation for Agriculture Development meeting
Muscat: The Sultanate has participated in the 52nd session of The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development.
A statement issued online by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth & Water Resources (MAFWR) said: ”The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth & Water Resources(MAFWR), participated in the meeting of the fifty-second session of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development., which was held on Wednesday, via a video call."
The Sultanate’s delegation participating in the meeting was headed by Eng. Yaqoub bin Khalfan bin Khamis Al Busaidi, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for Fisheries, and the membership of Eng. Suleiman Al Tobi, Director General of Agricultural Development, and Mr. Salem Al Hosani, Director of the International Cooperation Department.
During this session, the Council discussed some topics, the most important of which are, the progress of work in the strategy for sustainable Arab agricultural development 2030, the progress of work in the Arab Program for Sustainable Food Security 2030, the follow-up to the implementation of the Arab Strategy for the Sustainable Management of Pastoral Resources 2019-2039, and the United Nations Summit on Food Systems for 2021, cooperation with the United Nations World Food Program, contributions of the organization in support of the affected Arab countries (Sudan and Lebanon), cooperation with the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation, and cooperation with the International Islamic Charitable Organization (Kuwait).
The Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development included in its membership the Sultanate, the State of Kuwait, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Iraq, the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Republic of Libya, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Republic of Djibouti.
