COVID-19: Royal Hospital continues to operate despite pressure on ICU beds
Muscat : The Royal Hospital continued to operate at the level of outpatient clinics, operations, oncology treatments, catheters, and others, at a rate of 90 percent in April 2021, despite the severe pressure on the intensive care beds.
Dr. Muhanna bin Nasser Al Musalhi, Assistant Director General of the Royal Hospital, said that in April, the total number of visits to the hospital to outpatient clinics was 13,343, and in the day clinic unit was 1,308 visits, and 5,575 visits to the virtual clinics,
while the number of operations conducted at the hospital reached 1,309, and catheter operations reached 506 operations.

Al Musalhi added that the number of patients who received medical care in the oncology department, inpatients, and outpatient clinics reached 2,028 patients, and in the department of hematology and pediatric oncology reached 513 patients, while the number in the radiation treatment department reached 1,445 patients.
Dr. Muhanna explained that the hospital has made great efforts to provide the necessary medical care to patients, especially with the exceptional circumstances caused by the Corona pandemic and the high number of Coronavirus cases in the Sultanate.
Dr. Muhanna pointed out that, in light of the significant increase in the number of people in intensive care and Inpatient Wards in health institutions, the Royal Hospital has made great efforts to reduce the delay of appointments and provide treatment services for sick cases, especially emergency, heart conditions, cancer diseases, and others.
Al Musalhi stated that the services of anesthesiologists and intensive care doctors have been used to care for people infected with Coronavirus in the hospital's intensive care units.
