MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,847.75 points, up 0.01 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.30 per cent at 552.39 points.

Bank Dhofar, up 3.60 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Anwar Investment, down 2.15 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Madina Takaful were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Al Jazeera Services were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 593 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.4 million, with more than 12.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 48 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 14 declined and 28 remained unchanged. At the session close, Domestic investors were net sellers for OMR128,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR122,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR6,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,966.54 points, down by 0.01 per cent. Bank Dhofar and Ominvest were up 3.60 per cent and 0.67 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Investment, Madina Takaful, National Bank Oman, Sohar International Bank and Al Omaniya Financial Service were down 2.15 per cent, 2.02 per cent, 1.23 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 0.89 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,525.12 points, down 0.05 per cent. Salalah Mills and Galfar Engineering were up 3.38 per cent and 1.92 per cent respectively. National Aluminum Product, Raysut Cement, Oman Cables Industry and Jazeera Steel Product were down 1.50 per cent, 1.19 per cent, 0.89 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.06 per cent before closing at 1,615.96 points. Al Jazeera Services and National Gas were up 2.30 per cent and 1.38 per cent respectively. Dhofar Generating, Oman Telecommunication, Ooredoo and Renaissance Service were down 0.66 per cent, 0.51 per cent, 0.50 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively.
