Over 200,000 people in Oman given first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Muscat: More than 200,000 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines during the period from 27th December 2020 till 15th May 2021 in Oman.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said: "As many as 214,192 people were vaccinated in the Sultanate for the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines during the period from December 27, 2020 until the date of May 15, 2021."

"According to a statistic issued by the Ministry of Health, the total number of vaccinated people in the governorates of the Sultanate for the target group of 60 years and over reached 78,098, with a coverage rate of 72 per cent of the target groups."

"The total number of vaccinated health workers reached 35,184 people, with a coverage rate of 91 per cent, while the total number of vaccinated persons from other groups reached 100,910," the statement added.
