Tropical storm Tauktae develops into category 2 tropical cyclone

Muscat: The tropical storm Tauktae has developed into a category 2 tropical cyclone. It is likely to cross the Indian coasts today, Oman Meteorology said on Monday.

A statement issued online by Oman Meteorology said: "The tropical storm Tauktae (Tau'Te) in the Arabian Sea is classified into a category 2 tropical cyclone and continuous movement towards the north / northwest. It is expected to cross the Indian coasts this evening."

According to the data shared by Oman Meteorology, the wind speed around the center is 85-95 knots. The cyclone is currently at a distance of 1,300 km from the Sultanate’s coasts and the distance of the accompanying clouds is 1,130 km. The expected direction of cyclone is North/Northwest.
