MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,842.13 points, up 0.18 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.15 per cent at 546.95 points.

Dhofar Insurance, up 7.36%, was the top gainer while Ominvest, down 1.94 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of National Bank Oman were the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Ominvest Bond were most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 882 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR6 million, with more than 25 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded stocks, 17 advanced, 3 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR75,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR61,000 followed by local investors for OMR14,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,922.21 points, up by 0.35 per cent. Dhofar Insurance, Al Omaniya Financial Service, Al Anwar Investment, National Bank Oman and Oman United Insurance were up 7.36 per cent, 6.54 per cent, 2.20 per cent, 1.88 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Ominvest, Madina Takaful and Bank Nizwa were down 1.94 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 1.06 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,550.76 points, up 0.53 per cent. National Aluminum Product, Galfar Engineering, Oman Cables Industry, Al Maha Ceramic and Jazeera Steel Product were up 2.23 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 1.35 per cent, 1.23 per cent and 1.06 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.53 per cent before closing at 1,623.98 points. Sharqiyah Desalination, Al Suwadi Power and Al Jazeera Service were up 4.35 per cent, 3.64 per cent and 1.80 per cent respectively.
