Muscat: "We are committed to distributing 23,000 plots of land in 2021 as per the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik," His Excellency the Undersecretary for Housing at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said on Sunday.

His Excellency Eng. Hamad bin Ali bin Sulaiman Al Nazwani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Housing, said in an interview with Shabiba Radio: "We will ask citizens to update the data via the website, and priority will be given to families that do not own a suitable house or land."

He continued that the lands that will be given to citizens will be suitable for reconstruction. He also confirmed that the ministry is studying other alternatives for the citizen other than granting land.

His Excellency Al Nazwani said also that the ministry is following up on all citizens' observations and will find appropriate solutions for them and include them in the executive regulations in accordance with the new Royal Decree.

His Excellency Al Nazwani said, “As you know that granting land in the Sultanate is listed in several stages from 1970 to 2021, and the first law of the first phase provides for granting only men and not women, but at a certain stage requests that women and men be granted alike, but given the upcoming stage and the government's requirements to achieve stability and well-being for Omani families, this legislation came with the aim of granting and targeting the Omani family to expedite grants and help stabilise Omani families, in addition to raising the quality of this land.”

Speaking about the details of the conditions for granting residential government lands, he added, "We have about 475,000 applications on hold across the Sultanate, including 123,000 applications in Muscat governorate.

He confirmed that sorting applications will be electronic, and the electronic system will sort applications and priorities as well. We will announce the opening of the electronic data update very soon.

Speaking about the details of the conditions for granting residential government land, he explained to Shabiba Radio, "An information technology team has been formed to prepare this program or electronic system, and the applications will be sorted automatically, such as the unified acceptance system."
"According to the decree, no citizen can acquire more than one plot of land," he added.
