Electricity generators dispatched to parts of Oman by Defence Ministry

Muscat: The Ministry of Defence has sent a group of generators and heavy equipment to some wilayats of North Al Batinah Governorate to assist in relief measures after a torrential thunderstorm wreaked havoc.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency, (ONA), said: “The engineering services at the Ministry of Defence sent a group of generators to support the electricity sector, and a number of heavy equipment to reopen roads and remove waste, as well as water and sewage suction tankers.”

The statement pointed out that this is to contribute to dealing with the effects resulting from the current weather situation in North Al Batinah Governorate, especially the wilayats of Saham, Al Khaboura and Al Suwaiq.”

The Sultanate was affected by an air depression accompanied by thunderstorms, with hail and strong winds two days ago, which led to severe damage to private and public property and led to power outages in a number of the wilayats in North Al Batinah Governorate.
