Muscat: Haya Water is in the process of expanding Al Ansab sewage treatment plant and Azaiba central pump station – Phase II project to increase the capacity of the sewage treatment plant from 57,000 cubic metres a day to 125,000 cubic metres a day.
Engineer Said bin Rashid Al Asmi, projects general manager at Haya Water said: “The expansion of Al Ansab project aims to increase the number of domestic connection, besides incorporating the addition of four new pump station referred to as Central Pump Station to double its pumping capacity from 130,000 cubic metres a day to 260,000 cubic metres a day. This is in line with Haya Water Master Plan 2013 and the Vision of coming up with a world class water reuse system in Muscat.”
The duration of the construction is 730 days and the project commenced on August 18, 2015. The work is expected to be completed by July 2017, as stipulated in the contract.
The new enhancement and capacity increase will be effective from July this year due to the replacement of the old membrane in the existing eight membrane bio-reactor (MBR) tanks with new membrane and hence additional capacity of around 20,000 cubic meters a day.
