People over 45 years will be vaccinated in Oman
Muscat: The specialists at the Ministry of Health stated that more than one million doses of vaccines will be received in June, and it is expected that by the end of June, the number of people who have been vaccinated will reach one million and 500 thousand people.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency, (ONA), said: ”The ministerial team concerned with the issue of immunization against Coronavirus (COVID-19) and emanating from the Supreme Committee reviews during its first meeting the national strategy for immunisation against the COVID-19 disease, which aims to reduce the number of patients, deaths and the social and economic impact of the epidemic, in addition to the coverage rate of COVID-19 vaccine in all governorates of the Sultanate.”

The statement continued, “The specialists at the Ministry of Health stated that more than one million doses of vaccines will be received in June, and it is expected that by the end of June, the number of people who have been vaccinated will reach one million and 500 thousand people from the target groups, which include people over the age of 45 years, pilgrims, citizens of Musandam Governorate, front lines that include health workers and employees in government institutions, the Royal Oman Police, the Sultan’s Armed Forces, higher education institutions, educational personnel, twelfth-grade students in schools, vital sectors in the oil and gas industry, ports, airports, and a number of private sector institutions”

“The meeting also reviewed the mechanisms for distributing vaccines by opening vaccination centres in all governorates of the Sultanate, including the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, which is currently being equipped for this purpose, sports complexes in Muscat Governorate, schools and sports complexes in other governorates, as well as forming mobile teams to immunise all workers in government institutions, and providing COVID-19 vaccines to the private sector through clinics in large companies, and in private health institutions licensed to administer the vaccine”, added the statement.
