Oman increases gap between doses for AstraZeneca vaccine

Muscat: The Ministry of Health has decided to extend the period between doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine to four months due to the lack of global supplies and the delay by manufacturers in exporting the vaccine.

A statement issued online by the Ministry of Health, (MOH) said: "The Ministry of Health draws the attention of citizens and residents to the fact that it has decided to extend the period for administering the second dose of the Oxford / AstraZeneca vaccine to four months after the first dose, due to a lack of global supply and the delay by manufacturers in exporting the vaccine.”

“The Ministry wishes to clarify that the extension of the period between the two doses falls within the period authorised by the manufacturer to ensure the effectiveness of vaccination, as well as within the approved protocols for the Covid-19 vaccine. The Ministry states that all scheduled appointments for the second dose of the vaccine will reach each person via a text message specifying the day of vaccination."
