‘Investors have faith in Nawaz leadership’, says Chairman of Pak-Oman Investment Company

Muscat: It’s the people and investors’ confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that there is economic turnaround in Pakistan, said Yahya bin Said bin Abdullah Al Jabri, Chairman of the Pak-Oman Investment Company (POIC).
The POIC chairman made these observations when Ali Javed, Ambassador of Pakistan in Oman, called on him recently.
The overall performance of the POIC, which witnessed record profits during 2016, was satisfactory, Yahya bin Said bin Abdullah Al Jabri said. He also presented a comprehensive briefing on bilateral cooperation under the POIC, its forthcoming activities including the upcoming meeting of the Board of Directors on January 25, 2017 in Muscat.
He shared the POIC’s vision of enhancing activities in Pakistan and observed that the economic turnaround in Pakistan was directly related to confidence in Sharif’s leadership.
Jabri further observed that the investor-friendly policies and matching opportunities, coupled with positive international ratings by independent commentators, lent a sense of stability to the market and buoyed investors’ confidence.
The Ambassador, while observing that the September 2016 bilateral visit to Oman by the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, refreshed high level contacts, accorded a comprehensive briefing on the status of bilateral relations.
The Ambassador informed that Manzari, the chairman of the State Council (Upper House), led a parliamentary delegation to Islamabad from January 11-14, 2017. The delegates called on the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan and held meetings with the chairman of the Senate of Pakistan as well as the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and the ‘Pak-Oman Friendship Group’ from the Senate.
Jabri was conferred the civil award of ‘Sitara-e-QuaideAzam’ in 2008. He has been the chairman of the POIC since its establishment in 2001. Jabri is also the chairman of the Duqm Special Economic Zone (with the rank of Minister), chairman of the Airport Management Company and also chairman of the Capital Market Authority.
Both the sides affirmed they will continue to make intensive efforts to promote bilateral trade and investment activities.
