Muscat: The 23rd issue of Duqm Economist Magazine, with a big spotlight on Al Mazunah Free Zone, was released on Wednesday by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz).
“There are many investment opportunities on offer in Al Mazunah Free Zone, which we urge investors to explore; underlining Opaz vision of making the special economic zones and free zones permanent investment destinations,” Eng. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of the OPAZ, pointed out in the magazine's editorial.
The establishment of Al Mazunah Free Zone has contributed to the economic boom in the Wilayat, Sheikh Musallam bin Mohammed Zabanoot, Deputy Wali of Al Mazunah, said.
He also stressed that the locals at Al Mazunah depend a lot on the Zone to attract investments and provide more job opportunities.
“The zone’s future plan focuses on attracting international investors, strengthening partnership with Yemeni investors and establishing projects in the field of storing re-exported goods,” Said bin Abdullah Al Balushi, Director General of Al Mazunah Free Zone, said.
“The plan also includes implementing the fourth development phase with an area of 4 million square metres, bringing a diverse group of economic sectors, most notably the industrial sector,” he added.
Al Balushi also explained that, by the end of the first quarter of this year, the number of productive projects in the Zone reached 74 projects, while there are other 36 projects under construction.
This issue of Duqm Economist Magazine touched on the incentives for investment in Al Mazunah Free Zone and shed light on several existing projects, including the land port. From the inception of its operations in June 2020 until the end of last March, the land port received over 540,000 tonnes of exports and imports, which were loaded on more than 35, 000 trucks.
Additionally, the Magazine highlighted the milestone of gas delivery to the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (Sezad) and presented the different projects that are developed by the Centralised Utilities Company (Marafiq) in Sezad, most notably the integrated power and water plant.
A number of interviews are also featured in the magazine including the readiness of Karwa Motors to produce the first bus in Duqm and Maysan Properties is gearing up to mark the groundbreaking of Maysan Square Duqm project.
