Oman's Consumer Protection Authority Chairman tours markets

Muscat: The Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority has toured  a number of markets in the North and South Al Batinah governorates to ensure the proper implementation of value-added tax.

His Excellency Sulayem bin Ali Al Hikmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority visited a number of centres and shops in the North and South Al Batinah governorates, with the aim of ensuring that the tax is properly applied and that there are no violations in raising prices in an exaggerated manner that affects consumers' rights and their purchasing ability.

During his visit, he met with a number of suppliers, where he indicated that cooperation and joint integration between the supplier and the consumer is an urgent requirement at the present time, based on the principle of social responsibility and to ensure the existence of safe markets that provide the needs of the consumer according to what suits him in terms of price and quality.

His Excellency stressed that the Authority will not hesitate to hold violators accountable. He indicated that the Authority closely follows this aspect, monitors all observations and challenges, and develops appropriate solutions to them in coordination with the competent authorities.
