While at home tonight, make sure you watch the pink moon

Muscat: When you reach home tonight, don't forget to watch the first pink moon of 2021.

One of only two supermoons expected to occur this year, the next phenomenon is predicted to take place next month, on May 26, 2021.

Supermoons occur when the moon is within 90 percent of its closest distance to Earth.

"This full moon is near the middle of the holy month of Ramadan," said NASA, adding that the arrival of the full moon has significance in many cultures. "As the full moon in April, this is the Pink Moon, named after the herb moss pink, also known as creeping phlox, moss phlox, or mountain phlox. The plant is native to the eastern United States and is one of the earliest widespread flowers of spring."
