New dam in  Al Hamra to mitigate water crisis
It dam is one of the key water projects in the wilayat of Al Hamra.

Al Hamra: Construction works of the Wadi Dofia Dam Project are in the final stages and expected to be completed in a few months, according to officials tasked with supervising the project.

The Wadi Dofia Dam Project at Jabal Shams in the wilayat of Al Hamra, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is one of the key water projects in the wilayat of Al Hamra.

Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Abri, member of the committee supervising construction of the project said in a statement that the construction of the dam started in February 2019.

The dam is 70 metres in length and a height of 12 metres.

The construction phase of the project included some works such as rock cutting at the mountain road leading to the site of the dam and preparation works for concrete foundations of the dam, he added.

The project aimed to provide the wilayat of Al Hamra and other adjacent wilayats with water besides recharginge the Aflajs and wells with underground water.

The importance of the dam stems from the fact that the wilayat of Al Hamra undergo drought conditions from time to time which affect the level of underground water.

The civil committee supervising on the project has announced that the construction works of the dam were at final stages and expected to complete during the upcoming few months.
