Ramadan Special: You don't need a reason to help someone

‘Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs. For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity), for them is a great Reward.”
The Holy Month of Ramadan is the time when we should help people in whatever way possible especially now during the pandemic. Afterall it is rightly said: "You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” Apart from the health crisis, there are many people who might be facing financial difficulties now. If you are blessed with more, do share it with others. Support  local businesses by buying their products and services. Remember to pay zakat. As you are spending more time at home these days, do help your spouse in doing the household chores more than before.

Iftar Recipe: Luqaimat
Ingredients

1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp corn starch
1 tsp oil
 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
3/4 cup warm water you may need less, depends on the flour you’re using
 1/2 teaspoon dry yeast
  Pinch of saffron
  Oil for frying
  4 tbsp date syrup

Preparation
Take all the ingredients except oil and date syrup and blend well.
Keep it in a bowl and leave for an hour or so.
Take oil in a deep frying pan and once the oil is really hot, add dumplings of the batter with a spoon.
When the dumplings are light brown drain the oil.
Pour the date syrup on top.

Health tip: Don't overeat during Iftar
Though you enjoy a large Iftar spread you should try to be mindful of the portions. After many hours of fasting if you eat more it would have an adverse effect on your health. Break you fast with dates, fruits, natural juice or water. Then have food which is a mix of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals.

Ramadan Words
“Help one another in acts of piety and righteousness. And do not assist each other in acts of sinfulness and transgression. And be aware of Allah. Verily, Allah is severe in punishment”
