Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,714.21 points, down 0.09 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.13 per cent at 537.14 points.

Al Sharqia Investment, up 6.25 per cent, was the top gainer while Raysut Cement, down 8.28 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Raysut Cement were the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Sohar Bank Bond were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 803 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR3.4 million, with more than 13.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded stocks, 9 advanced, 14 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR393,000 while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR290,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR104,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,729.71 points, down by 0.15 per cent. Al Sharqia Investment and Bank Muscat were up 6.25 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, Ahlia Insurance, Sohar International Bank, Madina Takaful and Al Anwar Investment were down 4.35 per cent, 1.90 per cent, 1.11 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,842.53 points, down 0.57 per cent. Voltamp Energy, National Aluminum Product and Jazeera Steel Product were up 3.70 per cent, 0.84 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively. Raysut Cement, Al Maha Ceramic and Oman Fisheries were down 8.28 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 1.15 per cent respectively.

Services index remained unchanged at closing at 1,564.90 points. Oman Investment & Financial, Oman Telecommunication, Al Jazeera Service and Ooredoo were up 2.50 per cent, 1.62 per cent, 0.62 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively. Oman National Engineering, Phoenix Power, Renaissance Service and National Gas were down 2.17 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.60 per cent and 0.71 per cent respectively.
