Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,717.55 points, down 0.22 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.40 per cent at 537.84 points.
Al Sharqia Investment, up 5.26 per cent, was the top gainer while Muscat Finance, down 2.33 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Investment were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Jazeera Steel Product was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 1076 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.65 million, with more than 24 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded stocks, 16 advanced, 8 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR370,000 while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR276,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR94,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,738.51 points, down by 0.04 per cent. Al Sharqia Investment, Vision Insurance, Madina Takaful, Al Omaniya Financial Service and Al Anwar Investment were up 5.26 per cent, 5.13 per cent, 4.60 per cent, 4.11 per cent and 3.16 per cent respectively. Muscat Finance, United Finance, Sohar International Bank, National Bank Oman and Bank Muscat were down 2.33 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,870.95 points, up 0.91 per cent. Oman Cables Industry, Jazeera Steel Product, National Aluminum Product, Raysut Cement and Voltamp Energy were up 4.32 per cent, 3.45 per cent, 2.59 per cent, 1.68 per cent and 1.50 per cent respectively. Al Maha Ceramics was the only loser by 0.35 per cent.
Services index was up by 0.37 per cent before closing at 1,564.91 points. Oman Investment & Financials, Phoenix Power, Renaissance Service and National Gas were up 2.56 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 0.71 per cent respectively. Muscat Gases and Sembcorp Salalah were down 1.58 per cent and 1.23 per cent respectively.
