Moon not sighted in Oman, Ramadan from Wednesday

Muscat: The Main Committee for the Moon Sighting of the month of Ramadan 1442 AH announced in a statement, on Monday that the crescent moon for the month of Ramadan 1442 AH was not been sighted, which made Tuesday 13 April 2021, the complementary day for the month of Shaban 1442 AH and Wednesday, 14 April 2021 will be the first day of the month of Ramadan 1442 AH.

The statement reads as follows: The Main Committee for the Moon Sighting of the month of Ramadan 1442 AH met, on Monday, 29 Shaban 1442 AH,   under the chairmanship of Sheikh Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Salmi, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and membership of Sheikh Kahlan bin Nabhan Al Kharousi, Assistant to the Sultanate’s Grand Mufti; Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Mamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs; Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Hashmi, Judge at the Supreme Court; Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Sattar Al Kamali, President of the Court of Appeal in Musandam Governorate; and sheikh Mohammed bin Salim Al Nahdi, Judge at Muscat  Court of Appeal.

As the committee has not received any confirmation on sighting of the moon for the month of Ramadan, therefore, Tuesday 13 April, will be the complementary day to the month of Shaban 1442 AH and Wednesday, 14 April will be the first day of the month of Ramadan 1442 AH.

On the occasion, the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs extend their sincere greetings and wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, praying to the Almighty Allah to return this occasion on His Majesty the Sultan for years to come with good health, happiness and a long life and on the Sultanate and all Muslim countries with progress and prosperity.
