Oman’s Consumer Protection Authority monitors online shopping prices too

Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority has stated that it monitors the prices charged by online shopping apps and websites in order to stop overcharging.

HE Salim Al Hakamani, Head of Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said: "Electronic purchases have become an essential part of our lives due to the pandemic. The authority meets continuously with intermediaries to ensure commitment to a reasonable profit margin and to avoid exaggeration in prices."

"The authority has a system to follow online shopping trends and prices and in case of a report from consumers, we take it seriously and investigate the matter to ensure there is no undue profit being made," Al Hakmani added in an interview with Oman TV.
