Muscat: A four-member student team from the Modern College of Business & Science has been shortlisted for the Financial Analysis Challenge (FAC) awards instituted jointly by the Sultan Qaboos University and Muscat Securities Market (MSM).
The Modern College team won the second round of the contest (presentation) and is among the final five teams selected by the Muscat Securities Market to be considered for the FAC awards, which will be declared on May 29 at the closing ceremony to be held at the Grand Hyatt.
The team comprising Miyyada Abdul latif Rajab Al Balushi, Umaima Ali Hassan Al Balushi, Haifa Darwish Firiya Al Bulushi and Huda Jama Ahmed entered the second round of the selection process by winning the first round along with seven other teams, where participants were required to analyse a listed company on MSM and submit a written report to the Muscat bourse.
As many as 175 students from the Sultan Qaboos University, Sohar University, University of Nizwa, Modern College of Business & Science, Majan College, CBFS (College of Banking & Financial Studies), Higher College of Technology Muscat, Middle East College, Zahra College, Shinas Technical College and the College of Applied Sciences Nizwa had registered for the MSM Financial Analysis Competition.
Financial Analysis Challenge (FAC) is a competition managed by the Accounting Group at the College of Economics & Political Science under the Sultan Qaboos University, and Muscat Securities Market (MSM). FACwas designed to give students a chance to apply their financial analysis skills by performing an analysis of a company listed on MSM. It also aims at developing team skills.
The competition isco-sponsored by Bank Muscat, Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) and Oman Cables.
