National Ferries Company transports over 250,000 passengers during 2025

Muscat: The National Ferries Company—the national maritime carrier of the Sultanate of Oman—recorded the transportation of more than 250,000 passengers during 2025, with a daily average of around 690 passengers. According to periodic statistics issued by the company, the number of vehicles transported on its trips exceeded 64,000, alongside shipping cargo with a total payload surpassing 27,000 tons.

The company operates a maritime fleet comprising five ferries dedicated to transporting passengers and vehicles, in addition to one cargo and landing vessel.

The maritime transport services provided by the company contribute significantly to supporting the national economy by enhancing maritime connectivity between governorates and islands, supporting tourism and commercial activities, and facilitating the movement of individuals and cargo. Furthermore, the company actively provides employment opportunities for national talents, with its Omanization rate reaching 97%.

The Company offers an integrated package of modern services for passengers, vehicles, and cargo aimed at facilitating travel along the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman. It provides high-speed, regular, and scheduled passenger trips with various seating options. Additionally, it offers commercial cargo services and supplies to support projects and economic sectors across the wilayats, alongside exceptional exploratory cruises to view scenic marine tourist attractions.

The operational traffic of the ferries witnesses increased activity during peak seasons to meet the needs of citizens, residents, and visitors.

Within the framework of its development plans, the company is executing several projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of its maritime services. These include developing and rehabilitating some of the existing ferries, as well as constructing a new ferry for passengers and vehicles through Asyad Drydock. These initiatives are set to support future expansions, raise the quality of maritime services, and enhance the overall user experience.
