Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre (SQCCCRC), located within the University Medical City, has been awarded the designation of a Global Center of Excellence in Cardio-Oncology by the International Cardio-Oncology Society (IC-OS). It also underscores the Centre’s commitment to scientific research that contributes to global knowledge in this specialized field.
The IC-OS grants this accreditation to institutions that demonstrate sustained excellence in clinical practice and scientific research, in accordance with its rigorous standards. The society is recognized globally as the leading authority in cardio-oncology, working in collaboration with the American and European Societies of Cardiology.
This achievement further strengthens Oman’s position as a regional hub for precision medicine and opens new avenues for international research collaboration and medical training. It supports national capacity-building and the transfer of advanced knowledge in specialized medical fields.
The accreditation aligns with the strategic goals of the University Medical City, which aims to enhance Oman’s healthcare system through the integration of medical services, education, and research—contributing to the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040 to elevate service quality and harness innovation and knowledge in the health sector.
