Muscat: Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) celebrated the graduation of over 600 young Omanis as part of the company’s Emdad initiative. The trainees were the 20th batch to graduate from the programme which was launched in 2011 to create jobs and training opportunities for Omani jobseekers in the oil and gas sector and other sectors.
The graduates have completed various technical and non-technical training programmes, aligning with the Company's commitment to support the Government's economic diversification efforts. These programmes include the lifting inspection programme, HSE practitioner, protection engineers, IT for females, and more. As a result, the trainees are now qualified to contribute to sectors such as HSE, Engineering, IT and Quality Control.
The training programmes lasted from seven to 24 months at various training institutes and companies.
Further, the graduation ceremony was held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) under the auspices of Mohsin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, in the presence of Dr. Aflah Said Al Hadhrami, PDO’s Managing Director.
The Undersecretary said, “As we celebrate the 20th batch of PDO's Emdad initiative, I commend the dedication of over 600 young Omanis who have completed their training. PDO's commitment to creating job opportunities aligns with our economic diversification goals. These graduates, with their technical and non-technical skills are ready to contribute across sectors crucial to Oman's development.”
On his turn, PDO Managing Director Dr. Aflah Al Hadrami said: “This national programme stems from PDO’s commitment to enhancing the skills of Omani youth and developing their capabilities in the oil and gas sector. Since its launch in 2011, the Emdad programme has created thousands of jobs and training opportunities for Omani job seekers through various specialised training programmes.”
