Royal Academy of Management concludes second cohort of Walis Programme

Muscat: The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) today marked the conclusion of the second cohort of the Walis Programme. The programme comes within the framework of the National Initiative for the Development of Local Governance that is implemented by RAM in partnership with the Ministry of Interior.

The Walis Programme aims to empower local leaders within the governorates to actively drive comprehensive and balanced local development. This initiative aligns with Oman’s current and future directions towards decentralisation and the development of the governorates.

The programme is structured around five educational units, each meticulously designed to address key aspects of governance and leadership development. Employing contemporary executive learning methods, the programme integrates field visits, interactive lectures, workshops, and practical applications to complement the academic component.

Furthermore, the programme fosters engagement through dialogue sessions with specialists and leadership figures who possess expertise in strategy, planning, and executive experiences. As part of its holistic approach, the programme includes a comprehensive review of both national and international models that have significantly influenced local development and economic diversification, aiming for a qualitative transformation.

The Royal Academy of Management launched the Walis Programme with 63 participants in two cohorts. The programme aims to strengthen the capabilities of local leaders in the governorates, thereby contributing to achieving comprehensive and balanced local development. It aligns with the current and future trends of the Sultanate of Oman towards administrative decentralisation and the development of governorates.
