Muscat: In collaboration with The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, & Investment Promotion, the Business Year media group organized the Oman Business Forum on Monday, 20th May 2024, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center. The forum aims to discuss the latest developments in the future of energies and industries across all sectors, addressing issues relevant to companies and investors. His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, & Investment Promotion, and other officials and business leaders attended the event.

During his speech, HE Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef emphasized the increasing importance of renewable energy and sustainability, highlighting their role in enhancing the well-being of life and shaping Oman’s economic future, adding that with the annual target production of no less than one million tons of green hydrogen, Oman is expected to become the largest source of green hydrogen in the Middle East and the sixth-largest globally by 2030. His Excellency also pointed out that Oman is witnessing investments from major manufacturing companies keen on leveraging green hydrogen production and export opportunities.

Furthermore, His Excellency discussed signing a partnership programme between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, & Investment Promotion and “The Business Year” institution to support the release of the 10th annual edition of the book published to be titled “Oman 2024,” focusing on Oman’s vision for the year 2040.

Engineer Ammar bin Sulaiman Al Kharousi, Director General of the Investment Services Center, delivered a visual presentation highlighting the strategic role played by the Invest Oman platform. The platform aims to attract significant quality investments to Oman in priority sectors, contributing to promoting foreign investment rates. Al Kharousi also discussed initiatives to facilitate the investor journey, improve the business environment, and achieve high-impact projects in collaboration with various government entities.

The forum included two working sessions: The first discussed empowering technology-based businesses in Oman and the key enablers for digital transformation in the Omani business environment. The second session focused on navigating sustainability, highlighting initiatives related to environmental preservation, social care, and business practices. The forum brought together Omani business leaders from various trade and local economic sectors to explore the investment landscape, digital transformation, energy transition, and the role of new technologies in banking services and logistics.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, & Investment Promotion aims to enhance cooperation with international media institutions to market Oman as an attractive investment destination. Reports like these serve as marketing tools, introducing Oman’s business environment and investment climate.
