Dubai: In a momentous ceremony during COP28, Oman Environmental Holding Company (be’ah), the Sultanate’s leading waste management service provider, signed a strategic agreement with MSCI Inc. (MSCI), a global leader in investment decision support tools and services.

Through this exciting collaboration, be’ah aims to boost Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices in Oman and introduce novel frameworks to organisations across the country by leveraging MSCI’s ESG Ratings and Corporate Sustainability tools.

The agreement, signed by Eng. Tariq Al Ameri, Chief Executive Officer of be'ah, and Henry A. Fernandez, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MSCI, signifies a significant leap forward for be’ah in introducing bespoke ESG commercial services tailored for Omani companies. It marks a pivotal moment in integrating sustainable practices into the corporate fabric of the Sultanate, aligned with Oman's broader vision of sustainable development.

Sharing his high hopes for this collaboration, be’ah’s CEO Al Ameri stated: “We believe that through our new partnership with MSCI, we can deliver our strategies to scale sustainability across the country by supporting Omani companies to adopt innovative and effective ESG solutions. By improving ESG performance on an enterprise level, we can realise be’ah’s mission and enable the net-zero and sustainability objectives identified in Oman Vision 2040.”

MSCI’s CEO, Henry Fernandez, added: “An increased focus on sustainability continues to reshape global investing, and MSCI is proud to help be’ah advance sustainable practices in Oman. Our solutions can provide a clear framework for understanding long-term risks and opportunities across industries.”

The strategic agreement was officially unveiled at a time when the global spotlight is increasingly focused on sustainable investment and corporate responsibility, a topic that be’ah has been actively promoting throughout Oman’s business environment. With the technical and oganizational capabilities of be-ah and access to MSCI’s leading sustainability tools and solutions, be’ah aims to vastly improve the local and regional ESG landscape.
Further emphasising a commitment to shaping a sustainable future; this signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the COP28 in Dubai on December 5, the much-anticipated international platform that emphasises sustainable investment.

Since its inception, be’ah has been Oman’s flagship environmental service provider and a key driver of the Sultanate’s waste management and environment policies. Through this relationship with MSCI, be’ah aims to introduce seismic changes to sustainability-related frameworks, including ESG practices, becoming a model for change-makers in the waste management and broader environment industry.
