Oman marks World Arabic Language Day

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Education celebrated on Sunday, the World Arabic Language Day, which falls on 18 December every year.

The theme of the event for the year is “the contribution of Arabic language in Civilization and Culture”.  Darwish  Al Kiyomi, Director of Human Sciences Supervision Department at the Ministry of Education gave a speech on the impact of Arabic language in human civilization and the programmes of the Ministry of Education which would continue during this week.

Arabic Language Department at the University of Nizwa organised a workshop on the poetry of Sheikh Hilal bin Salim Al Siyabi which coincided with the celebrations of the Unesco with the World Arabic Language Day.
