Powertech thump Majees, Renaissance beat IAS

Muscat: Zawawi Powertech inch past Majees CT claiming their 2nd victory by just 2 wickets and Renaissance dominate IAS to register the win by seven wickets in the Premier Division of the Oman Cricket League Season 2022-23 powered by Muscat Pharmacy.

In the match played on Friday, Powertech won the toss and put Majees to bat first. Starting confidently with the ball , Powertech claimed 3 wickets to rub off the top order of Majees in the powerplay. Majees’ Afzal Khan and Sahil Shaik showed some resilience in return but was not enough to get Majees at a good score.

Majees bundled down for 161 in 44.2 overs. Nishad KS was the pick of the armers for Powertech claiming 3 wickets. Onto chase, Powertech started positive in the powerplay and showed great intent in chasing down the target but Majees’ Jan Shafiq and Ubaidullah restricted them from a comfortable win by claiming 3 wickets each. Powertech however chased the target down in 35.1 overs losing 8 of their batters. Mohammed Raheem was the pick of the batters for Powertech scoring 41 off 41. Brief Scores: Majees CT 161/10 in 44.2 overs ( Afzal Khan 46(86) 1x4,1x6 ; Nishad KS 29/3 ) lost to Zawawi Powertech 162/8 in 35.1 overs ( Mohd Raheem 41(41) 7x4 ; Ubaidullah 25/3 ) by 2 wickets.

In the match played on Saturday, Renaissance won the toss and elected to bowl.

Rightly proving their decision, Renaissance got 3 wickets of IAS Batmen on single digits in the powerplay. Rao Waqar and Mehdi Hasan stitched a 42 run stand holding the wickets to fall back-to-back. Brilliant Bowling from Asif Khan helped Renaissance tumble down IAS’ wickets with IAS just scoring 127 all out in 33 overs. The Rennaisance batsmen went all out against the IAS bowling attack with Asif Khan dominating the striking by scoring 50 of just 48 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. Brief Scores : IAS 127/10 in 33 overs ( Mehdi Hasan 41(64) 2x4,1x6 ; Asif Khan 19/4 ) lost to Renaissance 129/3 in 30.5 overs ( Asif Khan 50(48) 6x4,1x6 ; Mehdi Hasan 18/1 ) by 7 wickets.
