Latest: Heavy rain falls in many parts of Oman

Muscat: Thunderstorms are expected in Muscat, Suwaiq, Rustaq Sohar, Nizwa, Izki, Ibra, Shinas, Ibri, Khasab and Liwa, starting today, according to Oman’s metrological department.

“In Muscat Governorate, Al Amerat, Bausher and Quriyat will witness thunderstorm,” the advisory added.

On Sunday, the meteorological department had predicted heavy rain for four days due to a depression.

“Muscat, Al Dahirah, Buraimi, North and South Batinah, Dakhliyah, North and South Sharqiyah will be hit by heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds and chances of hailstorm,” the meteorology department said in an advisory uploaded on its official twitter handle.

“The wadis will overflow,” the met department said, advising the public to remain cautious.

“Dhofar and Al Wusta will also witness rain and high waves will be high upto 2.5 metres in Oman Sea and coast of Mussandam,” the advisory added.
