Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,708.70 points, up 0.74 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.65 per cent at 533.91 points. National Finance up 7.14 per cent, was the top gainer while Arabia Falcon, down 9.52 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of United Finance was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Al Anwar Investment was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 674 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.73 million, with more than 16.66 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded stocks, 14 advanced, 8 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR276,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR268,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR7,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,699.72 points, up by 0.58 per cent. National Finance, Muscat Finance, Al Sharqia Investment, Oman United Insurance and Ominvest were up by 7.14 per cent, 4.76 per cent, 2.82 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively. Arabia Falcon was down by 9.52 per cent.

Industrial Index closed at 4,621.39 points, down 0.05 per cent. Raysut Cement, Oman Flour Mills and Al Maha Ceramic were up by 0.68 per cent, 0.56 per cent and 0.39 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering, Aluminium Product and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 2.17 per cent, 0.89 per cent, 0.65 per cent respectively.

Services index was up by 0.69 per cent before closing at 1,544.89 points. Ooredoo, Renaissance Service, and Omantel were up by 5.13 per cent, 2.18 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively. OIFC, Shell Oman and Al Jazeera Service were down by 2.47 per cent, 0.46 per cent and 0.33 per cent respectively.
